Garden Cushions
When you are trying to make your backyard or patio an attractive place to sit and work, one thing that you will need to think about are garden cushions. More often than not, you'll find that your garden chairs can be quite uncomfortable, especially if you find yourself sitting on bare wood or metal, and if you need some extra padding to make sure that you can sit comfortably for an extended period of time, you will need to look and find out what garden cushions can offer you. The first thing for you to think about are what materials that can be used. If you are a traditionalist, you might be interested in cloth pillows stuffed with foam or batting. If you are going for Victorian look, cloth cushions strewn over your scrolling iron benches can be an excellent way to make sure that the aura of antiquity is maintained. While these cushions are comfortable and very tactilely pleasing, remember that simple cloth can be quite delicate and easy to tear or dirty. They are quite ornamental, but for day to day wear, you might want something a little less frail. Similarly, you might want to look for cushions that are at least slipcovered with treated canvas or slick plastic. These are quite durable, and can often be wiped clean. Many even come with a zippered slip cover, something that will allow you to replace the stuffing if necessary and then clean it. Take a look at the cleaning instructions before you buy it, but there's a good chance that even if the label says dry clean only, you'll still be able to throw it in the washing machine as long as you're careful. When you are getting ready to buy garden cushions, take a look at the forms that are available. You'll find plenty of throw-pillow sized offerings, but you'll also find plenty of longer, body length cushions for lawn chairs and larger furniture. Many people replace the cushions their lawn chairs came with with something more attractive or comfortable, so don't feel that you have to stick with what you bought originally. If you are looking for a great way to make your garden furniture more comfortable, take a look around and find out what's available in terms of cushioning. You'll be able to find cushions that match your aesthetic both in form and color and with a little bit of work, you'll have some real comfort built right into your patio design! |
